A drive is failing and you need to know where. Read the good sectors, deduce the corrupt ones, and map the platter without touching a bad one.
Every number is a fact, not a guess. A sector showing 1 has exactly one corrupt sector among the eight around it — once you know which, everything else it touches is safe to read. The first sector you open is always clean, so there is no unlucky start.
Tap an unread sector. If it is clean you get a number, or an empty space that opens everything around it automatically.
Tap or left clickWhen you are certain a sector is corrupt, mark it so you cannot open it by mistake. Long press on touch, right click on desktop, or turn on Marking and tap.
Long press · right clickTap a number that already has all its bad sectors marked and every remaining neighbour opens at once. The fastest way to work, and the fastest way to blow a run if a mark is wrong.
Tap a revealed numberRead a corrupt sector and the pass ends there. The rest of the map is revealed so you can see what you missed.
Ends the runYou win by reading every good sector — the bad ones do not need marking. Marks are a tool for you, not a scoring target.
Timed, best pass savedQuick is 10 by 8 with 10 bad sectors, full is 14 by 10 with 24, deep is 18 by 12 with 45. Phones get taller, narrower versions of each so the sectors stay tappable.
Best time kept per sizeIf a machine has started freezing, clicking or failing to boot, the safest move is to stop using it and get the data copied off before the drive gets worse.
